On an official visit to Niamey, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Dr. Badr Abdel-Atty, was received by his Nigerien counterpart, Bakary Yaou Sangaré.
The meeting is part of an ongoing rapprochement initiated in October 2024, during Minister Sangaré’s visit to Cairo.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral ties, grounded in shared history and a common vision for peace and development.
Talks focused on several key sectors, including the economy, security, and education.
Egypt highlighted its experience in counter-terrorism, emphasising the need for a comprehensive approach that combines development and prevention.
The visit concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding to establish a regular political consultation mechanism, paving the way for sustained strategic dialogue.
This visit marks a new milestone in the ambitious partnership that Niger and Egypt aim to build in support of regional stability and shared progress.
