The Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Barau Jibrin, has reaffirmed in Abuja the commitment of the Nigerian Senate to support the strengthening of economic relations between Nigeria and Morocco and to support initiatives aimed at increasing trade and investments between the two countries.
Speaking during a meeting with a delegation from the Nigeria-Morocco Trade and Development Forum, Sen. Jibrin, reiterated the support of the Senate for efforts aimed at deepening bilateral economic cooperation.
According to information provided at the end of the meeting, discussions focused on ways to expand trade, promote direct relations between businesses and create new partnership opportunities between the Nigerian and Moroccan private sectors.
The Forum representatives also presented several initiatives intended to strengthen economic ties between Nigeria and Morocco.
Senator Jibrin stressed that Nigeria remained committed to a relationship he described as old and mutually beneficial with Morocco.
He estimated that this cooperation should generate more economic benefits for the populations of the two countries, while recalling the role of the legislative power in establishing an environment favourable to business and investments.
The parliamentary official assured that the Senate would continue to support projects and mechanisms likely to consolidate bilateral economic relations.
He indicated that the National Assembly remained ready to support any initiative aimed at strengthening the mutual benefits of this cooperation.
The delegation from the Nigeria-Morocco Trade and Development Forum also presented an economic programme planned soon in Marrakech.
This meeting should bring together representatives of the private sector, investors and institutional leaders from the two countries around cooperation projects and cross-border partnerships.
According to the organisers, the event is aimed at bringing together the Moroccan and Nigerian business communities and transform bilateral economic potential into concrete projects.
They underlined the importance of institutional support to promote the success of this initiative.
In response, Barau Jibrin renewed his support for the Forum as well as actions intended to intensify economic exchanges between Nigeria and Morocco, believing that bilateral relations should result in lasting partnerships and increased cooperation for the benefit of both economies.
