Senegal have booked their place in the semifinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after edging Mali 1-0 in a quarterfinal clash played at the Grand Stade de Tanger, Morocco on Friday.
The decisive goal for the Lions of Teranga was scored by Iliman Ndiaye in the 27th minute.
Mali captain Yves Bissouma was sent off for a second bookable offense deep into first-half stoppage time, leaving the Eagles a man down for the remainder of the game.
Senegal will face the winners of Saturday’s quarter-final between Egypt and Côte d’Ivoire, scheduled to take place in Agadir, in the semi-finals next Wednesday.
In the other quarter-final played later on Friday, hosts Morocco beat five-time winners Cameroon 2-0 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. The Atlas Lions lie in wait for either Nigeria or Algeria who play on Saturday at the Marrakech Stadium.
Côte d’Ivoire will square off against Egypt’s Pharaohs in Agadir later.
The semifinals are set for 14 January, with the final scheduled for 18 January 2026 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
