Tunisian Prime Minister Sara Zafrani Zanzeri hosted Libyan Minister of Economy and Trade Mohamed Al-Houij in Tunis on Wednesday to discuss strengthening the comprehensive bilateral cooperation between the two North African nations.
The meeting was held as part of Minister Al-Houij’s working visit to follow up on the recommendations made during the Tunisian-Libyan Joint Trade Commission, which convened in Tripoli in December 2024.
Prime Minister Zanzeri lauded the historical and fraternal relations between the Tunisian and Libyan peoples, reiterating Tunisia’s commitment to developing these ties across all areas. She stressed the importance of tracking the joint commission’s recommendations to overcome existing difficulties and achieve greater economic integration and cooperation.
The Tunisian official emphasized the need to give new impetus to the bilateral relationship, fostering a spirit of complementarity and shared prosperity. She affirmed Tunisia’s determination to continue strengthening economic and commercial cooperation through a joint roadmap. This roadmap aims to increase and diversify trade while building strategic partnerships focused on the African market, which both nations consider a strategic extension.
Minister Al-Houij, for his part, expressed Libya’s strong desire to further develop bilateral cooperation in all sectors to achieve higher levels of mutual benefit.
Regarding the political situation in Libya, Prime Minister Zanzeri reaffirmed Tunisia’s firm position in favor of the Libyan people’s free and sovereign choices, stressing that the situation is an internal affair and the solution must be exclusively Libyan-Libyan, free from any foreign interference.
