Al Ahly Sporting Club (Egypt) has won the Women’s Basketball League Africa (WBLA) 2025 title, which concluded on Sunday, December 14, in Cairo.
The Egyptian club secured its first continental championship by finishing the final phase of the competition undefeated, with a perfect record of six wins and no losses. The final phase was held at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Arena in Cairo.
In the final match, Al Ahly defeated Ferroviário de Maputo (Mozambique) with a decisive score of 77-51. Al Ahly now becomes the second Egyptian club to win the WBLA, following Alexandria Sporting, which won the title in 2022 and 2023. Three-time African champions Ferroviário de Maputo finished in second place.
In the third-place game, the Rwandan Patriotic Army (Rwanda) defeated ASC Ville de Dakar (Senegal) 90-84 in overtime.
The final standings were Al Ahly Sporting Club (Egypt), Ferroviário de Maputo (Mozambique), Rwandan Patriotic Army (Rwanda), ASC Ville de Dakar (Senegal), Sporting Club de Luanda (Angola), Kenya Ports Authority (Kenya), REG (Rwanda), and CNSS (DR Congo).
Raneem Elgedawy of Al Ahly (Egypt) was named the WBLA 2025 MVP. She was also selected to the WBLA 2025 All-Star Five, alongside teammate Hagar Amer, Aliyah Matharu (ASC Ville de Dakar), Yacine Diop (Rwandan Patriotic Army), and Ingvild Mucauro (Maputo Railways).
