The Burkinabè military announced that it successfully thwarted complex, coordinated terrorist attacks launched on June 30 against multiple combat unit positions in Gayéri, Solhan, and Sebba.
According to a statement from the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Burkinabè National Armed Forces, supported by the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland militia, immediately repelled the assaults using a combination of ground units and air assets. The military command reported that the defensive operations inflicted a heavy defeat on the attackers, resulting in the neutralization of more than 400 terrorists.
In the aftermath of the engagements, defense forces recovered a vast arsenal of military hardware left behind by the fleeing militants. The seized equipment included 353 firearms of various calibers, over 250 motorcycles, ammunition, and communication equipment. Ongoing mopping-up and security operations continue across the affected regions to track down any remaining fighters, and the military has urged local populations to cooperate by reporting suspicious behavior to security personnel.
The military command noted that these coordinated offensives occurred exactly one day after Burkina Faso officially severed diplomatic relations with France.
