The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the final shortlists of the top three nominees in the key men’s categories for the 2025 CAF Awards.
The highly anticipated awards gala, celebrating the outstanding performances of African football this year, is scheduled to take place in Rabat, Morocco, on November 19th at 7:00 PM (6:00 PM GMT).
The race for the coveted African Player of the Year award features a heavyweight trio of stars currently dominating the global game: Achraf Hakimi (Morocco, Paris Saint-Germain), Mohamed Salah (Egypt, Liverpool), and Victor Osimhen (Nigeria, Galatasaray).
The final list for the Best Goalkeeper award is notably dominated by Moroccan talent: Yassine Bounou (Morocco, Al Hilal), Mounir Mohamedi (Morocco, RS Berkane), and Ronwen Williams (South Africa, Mamelodi Sundowns)
In the Interclub Player of the Year category, which recognizes excellence in African club competitions, two Moroccans are again nominated: Mohamed Chibi (Morocco, Pyramids FC), Oussama Lamlioui (Morocco, Renaissance Berkane), and Fiston Mayele (DR Congo).
The nominees for the Coach of the Year award include two Moroccan figures and a coach from Cape Verde: Mohamed Ouahbi, Walid Regragui, and Budista (Cape Verde).
The Young Player of the Year award, highlighting emerging talent, features: Othmane Maamma (Morocco, Watford), Abdellah Ouazane (Morocco, Ajax), and Tylon Smith (South Africa, Queens Park Rangers).
Finally, the National Team of the Year category sees the Moroccan national A team and the Moroccan under-20 national team nominated alongside the Cape Verdean selection. For the African Club of the Year award, the contenders are: Renaissance Sportive de Berkane (Morocco), Pyramids FC (Egypt), and Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa).
