Chad’s Prime Minister, Ambassador Allah-Maye Halina, held talks on Friday with Abdou Abarry,, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Central Africa.
The meeting comes on the eve of the opening of the 59th session of the United Nations Standing Advisory Committee on Security Questions in Central Africa (UNSAC), scheduled to take place in N’Djamena.
This engagement forms part of the ongoing consultations between Chadian authorities and the United Nations ahead of a key regional forum focused on peace and security in Central Africa.
Mr Abarry commended Chad’s efforts in hosting refugees, describing the country as a model of hospitality for having taken in over one million Sudanese refugees.
“Chad therefore provides a suitable platform for addressing humanitarian challenges,” he stated, noting that the upcoming discussions will build on the outcomes of the humanitarian summit held in Malabo on October 18, 2024.
