The European Union’s newly appointed ambassador to Senegal, Aude Maio-Coliche, formally presented her credentials to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, assuming her mandate to deepen strategic and economic cooperation between Dakar and Brussels.
Succeeding Jean-Marc Pisani as head of the EU Delegation to Senegal, Ambassador Maio-Coliche takes office at a pivotal junction for regional engagement, with bilateral priorities centered on strategic infrastructure investment, sustainable economic development, regional peace and security, migration management, and institutional governance.
The diplomatic rotation coincides with the expansion of European multilateral operations in West Africa, marked by the establishment of a centralized international partnership hub in Dakar covering six regional states. The capital also houses major European institutional outposts, including humanitarian assistance divisions and the European Investment Bank, alongside initiatives backed by 17 EU member states operating under the “Team Europe” framework. Prior to her deployment to Senegal, Ambassador Maio-Coliche served as the EU’s Director for Strategic Communication and Foresight, acting Deputy Director-General for Africa, EU Ambassador for Equality, and head of delegation in Argentina and Venezuela. She affirmed her commitment to expanding multi-stakeholder dialogue with Senegalese political authorities, economic actors, civil society groups, and youth organizations.
