Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, met with his French counterpart, Jean-Noël Barrot, in Paris on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.
The meeting, which took place while Bourita was attending the 4th Ministerial Conference of Feminist Diplomacy, served to consolidate the “exceptional partnership” between Rabat and Paris.
In a press release from the Quai d’Orsay (the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the two ministers acknowledged the deepening of their rich bilateral relationship across numerous sectors, including industrial and strategic partnerships, mobility, and global issues. They agreed to maintain this positive momentum, which follows President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to Rabat nearly a year ago.
The French Minister specifically welcomed Morocco’s new membership in the group of countries promoting feminist diplomacy (FFP+), highlighting the Kingdom’s commitment to equality and female leadership on the international stage.
During the discussions on regional and international issues, Minister Barrot reiterated France’s consistent and “intangible” position regarding Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara.
The Quai d’Orsay press release explicitly stated that the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco in 2007 “remains the only serious and credible basis for achieving a just, lasting, and negotiated political solution, in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.”
France is committed “resolutely at the United Nations to a definitive political settlement of this issue,” the text added, signaling Paris’s strong support for the Euro-Moroccan and Euro-Mediterranean partnership in its entirety.
