Following the attacks on April 25 against several Malian cities by jihadist groups, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Quai d’Orsay) has recommended that French nationals in Mali temporarily leave the country “as soon as conditions allow,” due to a particularly unstable security situation.
According to the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, this decision comes amid high tensions and significant security risks, marked by several recent episodes of violence in various regions of
the country, including Bamako.
French authorities encourage departures via the remaining available commercial flights and strongly advise against all travel to Mali.
This recommendation does not constitute a mandatory evacuation, but a precautionary measure aimed at reducing the exposure of French nationals to potential incidents.
The French embassy in Bamako remains available to assist nationals wishing to leave the country.
The ministry also reminds the public that the situation is still evolving and urges French citizens to regularly consult official travel advisories before going on trips.
