Heads of state and government from Guinea-Bissau, Burkina Faso, Niger, and South Africa are in Dakar to participate in the economic forum which got under way at the Abdou Diouf International Conference Center on the outskirts of the Senegalese capital on Tuesday.
Bissau-Guinean president, Umaro Sissoco Embaló is attending on the invitation of his Senegalese counterpart, Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
He will hold bilateral meetings with the Senegalese leader over issues of mutual interest in the economic and political spheres.
On Monday, Senegal’s Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko welcomed South African Vice President, Paul Shipokosa Mashatile, who is in Dakar to participate in the forum.
Burkinabe PM, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo, and that of Niger, Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine, are also participating.
The economic forum, themed “Connecting Opportunities, Building the Future,” brings together several public and private stakeholders from around the world.
The event provides a strategic platform to promote business opportunities and economic development in Senegal and the sub-region.
The heads of delegation are expected to hold audiences and bilateral meetings with technical and financial partners on the sidelines of the forum.
