During an official visit to Gabon, the President of Madagascar’s Refoundation Republic, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, toured several flagship infrastructure projects on Friday that showcase the transformation agenda being implemented by the Gabonese authorities.
This high-level diplomatic visit forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Antananarivo and Libreville, particularly regarding institutional reform and the national development initiatives currently underway in both countries.
Accompanied by prominent members of the Gabonese government, Colonel Randrianirina first visited the Emerald City, a project specifically designed to improve living conditions for public servants and support the broader modernization of the state administration. The official delegation then toured the Bay of Kings, a major urban and economic development project intended to become a strategic hub for tourism and international business activities. During this portion of the visit, the Malagasy president took part in a symbolic tree-planting ceremony to mark the partnership between the two nations.
The comprehensive tour concluded at the City of Democracy, where the recently rebuilt Omar Bongo Ondimba Congress Palace was presented to the delegation as a symbol of institutional renewal and a key venue for national and international events. At the end of the visit, the Malagasy president highly praised the structural achievements he had observed on the ground, describing Gabon’s experience as an excellent example of how political transition, institutional restoration, and the implementation of major development projects can be successfully pursued at the same time. He also expressed strong interest in studying this integrated approach as part of the ongoing state refoundation process currently being pursued in Madagascar.
