President Emmerson Mnangagwa appointed Soda Zhemu as Zimbabwe’s new Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister in a mini‑cabinet reshuffle announced on Wednesday.
The move, confirmed by Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Martin Rushwaya, shifts former information minister Jenfan Muswere to the Ministry of Skills Audit and Development.
Muswere replaces Paul Mavhima who has been reassigned to head the National Housing and Social Amenities portfolio.
Reports say Muswere’s removal from the influential information ministry is due to an alleged fallout with Mnangagwa after he attempted to dismiss Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) board chairperson Halliate Rushwaya – a close relative of the president.
Mnangagwa is said to have intervened in the matter, reinstating the ZBC chairperson.
