The 10th edition of the Morocco Desert Challenge has begun, drawing more than 650 participants from 23 countries.
This challenging cross-country rally covers 3,150 km over eight stages, testing the endurance and skill of drivers across the diverse landscapes of southern Morocco.
The rally route connects several southern Moroccan cities, including Agadir, Laayoune, Boujdour, Es-Semara, Assa, Foum Zequid, and Ouarzazate. Since its start last Friday, the 160 participating vehicles – comprising 56 cars (4x4s and buggies), 57 SSVs, 39 motorcycles and quads, and eight trucks – have traversed varied terrain, from dunes and mountains to wadis and beaches.
Organized under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI, the event is known for its high-caliber competition, attracting professional drivers from around the globe. A notable participant in this year’s edition is Hicham El Ghait, a young motorcyclist from Laayoune, who is using the rally to develop his driving skills, according to organizers.
Considered the second-largest rally-raid event after the Dakar Rally, the Morocco Desert Challenge will conclude on April 12th in Ouarzazate with the awards ceremony, further solidifying Morocco’s reputation in the international rally scene.
