The Southern Moroccan city of Dakhla will host a high-level economic forum on Thursday, October 9, bringing together operators from Morocco and France.
The Dakhla meeting aims to strengthen existing partnerships, identify new synergies, and consolidate cooperation between the French and Moroccan business communities.
It marks a new step in the consolidation of the Moroccan-French economic partnership, based on trust, complementarity, and the search for sustainable solutions to global challenges. More than 300 French and Moroccan business leaders are expected to attend this event.
Organised by the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) and the French Business Movement (MEDEF), through the France-Morocco Business Leaders Club, the forum is a continuation of the state visit to Morocco in October 2024 by President Emmanuel Macron, who declared that the present and future of the Sahara are part of Moroccan sovereignty, according to a joint statement from the CGEM and MEDEF.
Some 40 agreements were signed during this visit between Moroccan and French institutions and entities in the public and private sectors.
This forum also strengthens the already strong economic and trade relations between Morocco and France.
The choice of the city of Dakhla has both strategic and economic dimensions. The region is a showcase for the dynamism and economic potential of the Kingdom of Morocco, illustrated by its structural investments and its regional and continental openness. French entrepreneurs believe this forum will allow them to explore an emerging market that combines national attractiveness and serves as a bridge between Europe and Africa.
The Dakhla Forum will also allow business leaders from both countries to jointly explore opportunities in strategic sectors such as renewable energy, infrastructure and logistics, tourism and sustainable hospitality, agri-food and food security, innovative services and digital technology, and training and skills development.
In April 2024, a business forum held in Rabat brought together more than 300 French and Moroccan entrepreneurs and led to the creation of a white paper, a veritable roadmap for entrepreneurial cooperation.
In October 2024, a second business forum was held in Rabat, in the presence of President Emmanuel Macron. It led to the signing of some 20 economic agreements in key sectors such as finance, desalination, energy, and new technologies.
The Dakhla forum reflects the joint desire of the CGEM and the MEDEF to contribute to the “strengthened exceptional partnership” that unites France and Morocco.
t also illustrates a shared ambition:to promote investment, encourage innovation, and foster the creation of added value and jobs, the same source emphasizes.
The city of Dakhla is Morocco’s Atlantic gateway to sub-Saharan Africa, embodying King Mohammed VI’s vision of opening this maritime space to the landlocked countries of the Sahel. With its infrastructure, industrial zones, expanding port, and geostrategic position, the city is establishing itself as a new regional hub connecting Europe, Africa and the Atlantic world.
