Niger and Switzerland have advanced their bilateral cooperation with the signing of two new agreements in Niamey on Wednesday, aimed at bolstering education and professional integration opportunities for Nigerien youth.
The first agreement, initialed by Nigerien Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakary Yaou Sangare and the Deputy Head of the Swiss Cooperation Office, officially launches the initial phase of the “GUANI” program. This initiative is designed to enhance technical and professional skills among young people in Niger.
The ceremony also included the signing of Amendment No. 3 to the Education Quality Support Program (PAQUE III) agreement, which represents a continuation of the Swiss Confederation’s long-standing support for Nigerien education, according to Nigerien diplomatic sources.
This dual commitment underscores the shared dedication of both nations to foster an inclusive education system and to create tangible pathways to employment for young Nigeriens, particularly within the challenging socio-economic landscape.
