Senegal and Algeria have signed 15 bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding aimed at broadening economic and diplomatic ties following the conclusion of the sixth session of their Joint Commission for Cooperation in Algiers.
The high-level gathering, which concluded on October 13, 2026, marked the first formal session of the joint commission in 29 years, reflecting a renewed effort by both nations to modernize their legal framework and align state partnerships with current regional priorities.
The newly established agreements encompass a broad range of sectors, including energy, mining, geology, transport, air services, investment promotion, higher education, and archival management. By updating trade and administrative frameworks, leadership from both governments expressed a joint commitment to translating diplomatic consensus into tangible economic initiatives that enhance mutual growth and strengthen cross-regional collaboration across West and North Africa.
