Senegalese customs officers intercepted 10 kilograms of high-potency “Skunk” hashish with an estimated street value of 120 million CFA francs during a targeted inspection at the Port of Dakar on Monday, October 12, 2026.
The illicit cargo was discovered by the Commercial Brigade of the Dry Ports Customs Service while searching a shipping container arriving from North America, which had been officially declared as containing only motor vehicles.
Acting on intelligence indicators, customs personnel targeted two spare tires stored inside the container, eventually unrimming the rubber to reveal 20 packaged sachets concealed within. The Customs Joint Container Inspection Unit (UMCC) performed initial field tests that returned positive results for hashish, which were subsequently validated through detailed forensic analysis by the National Laboratory of the Technical and Scientific Police.
The successful interdiction underscores the heightened monitoring protocols implemented by Senegalese maritime and customs authorities to disrupt international narcotics smuggling routes operating through major West African ports.
