Senegal’s National Civil Registration Agency (ANEC) has reported significant progress in the modernization of the country’s civil registration system, with 629 civil status centres now connected to the national network and more than 15.3 million records integrated into the national database.
According to statistics released by ANEC on its Facebook page, 67 percent of civil registration centres have been digitized through the Civil Registration Management Software (LGEC), while 27 percent are connected to the Sama État Civil platform, enabling citizens to submit applications online.
The agency also reported that 3,695 civil registration officers and staff have received training as part of the digital transformation programme, which aims to improve data reliability, strengthen document security, and enhance access to public services. As part of efforts to improve the quality and integrity of the system, ANEC plans to conduct a civil registration data verification campaign from July 13 to 29, 2026, in the regions of Fatick, Louga, and Diourbel. Over the course of 17 days, the operation will focus on validating records and correcting any inconsistencies or irregularities identified in civil registration registers.
Through these initiatives, ANEC aims to establish a modern, secure, and inclusive civil registration system capable of better meeting the needs of Senegal’s population.
