Mr Peter Vowles has been appointed British High Commissioner to Nigeria, in succession to Dr Richard Montgomery CMG. the Foreign and Commonwealth Office announced on Monday.
Mr Vowles will take up his appointment in September.
He was also high commissioner to Zimbabwe from 2023 to 2026 and as director of the UK Department for International Development (DFID) covering Asia, the Caribbean and Overseas Territories from 2018 to 2021.
Mr Vowles was also the deputy director of DFID in the Democratic Republic of Congo from 2010 to 2013.
