A week after taking office, the Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, and Chadians Abroad, Ahmed Kogri, received His Excellency Abdellatif Erroja, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Morocco to the Republic of Chad, on Monday.
The Moroccan diplomat conveyed congratulations on the appointment from his counterpart, the Kingdom’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The two officials reviewed relations between Ndjamena and Rabat and discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
Ahmed Kogri was appointed to head Chad’s diplomatic service by presidential decree on September 21, 2026, succeeding Dr. Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul.
He assumed his duties the following day.
Coming from an intelligence background, he led the National Security Agency (now ANSE) from July 2017 to 2024.
He was subsequently appointed Minister-Special Secretary to the Transitional President, and later Advisor on African and International Affairs at the Presidency of the Republic in July 2025 – a position he held until his current appointment.
Relations between Chad and Morocco are built on cooperation that has expanded into several sectors in recent years.
In 2020, six agreements were signed covering diplomacy, agriculture, energy, and information and communication.
The first agreement waived visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, service, and special passports.
In December 2021, two agreements were signed in Rabat regarding international road transport and logistics, complemented by a memorandum on scholarships. The number of Moroccan scholarships for Chadians was subsequently raised to 150 per year.
In the fields of infrastructure and air transport, new agreements covered air services – specifically the Casablanca-Ndjamena route – and partnerships between stakeholders in the infrastructure sector.
On July 30, 2026, during the Throne Day celebrations, Ambassador Erroja highlighted this strengthening of ties as a model of South-South partnership.
