From May 30 to June 1, 2025, the Karate 1-Premier League concluded its season in Rabat, Morocco, crowning new champions and confirming the dominance of Egyptian world number one.
Abdalla Abdelaziz reigned supreme in the -75 kg category.
The Moroccan capital vibrated to the rhythm of the Karate 1-Premier League grand finale, the final
stage of an intense season that spanned Paris, Hangzhou, Cairo, and Rabat.
The tournament crowned the new champions of the year and designated the Grand Winners, the best karatekas in each category.
In the premier -75 kg category, Abdelaziz once again confirmed his status as world number one and a benchmark in African karate.
Already a world and African champion, he dominated the competition from start to finish in Rabat, defeating Belgium’s Quentin Mahauden 4-3 in the final after a spectacular and uncontested fight.
This victory allowed him to retain his title of Grand Winner of the season, having already triumphed in Paris, Antalya, and Cairo, and further cemented his dominance on the international circuit.
The competition also saw the emergence of new talent and confirmed the consistency of the biggest names in world karate.
In the women’s competition, Hong Kong’s Mo Sheung Grace Lau won her third gold medal
of the season in kata, while Japan’s Kakeru Nishiyama reigned supreme in the men’s kata, claiming his fourth consecutive victory and the title of Grand Winner for the third year in a row.
The Moroccan public witnessed some impressive finals, notably with the victories of Jordan’s Afeef Ghaith (-67 kg), Chile’s Valentina Toro Meneses (-55 kg), and France’s Thalya Sombe (-68 kg).
But it was Abdalla Abdelaziz who truly made his mark on the occasion, embodying African excellence on the world stage.
