The head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed al-Menfi, held a meeting with an international legal team composed of high-level experts to review the latest legal and procedural developments related to the murder of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, according to a statement from his media office.
The meeting focused on mechanisms to strengthen technical and judicial cooperation to ensure that the investigations are conducted in accordance with internationally recognised standards. The stated objective is to achieve “the full revelation of the truth” and to consolidate the principles of justice and transparency in handling the case.
Following the discussions, Mohamed al-Menfi signed a memorandum of understanding with the international team. This document aims to coordinate efforts and intensify joint work in collecting evidence and material elements related to the case, as well as in monitoring related files. The statement emphasizes that this approach reflects a desire to structure international technical support within a formalised framework.
The head of the presidential council reaffirmed his full commitment to establishing the foundations of justice and combating impunity.
He stressed the need to enable the competent institutions to carry out their missions independently and professionally, in the interest of the country’s stability.
This initiative comes at a time when the Libyan authorities are seeking to strengthen the credibility of judicial procedures and consolidate the rule of law, relying on increased cooperation with
specialised international partners.
