Liquid Intelligent Technologies has awarded three university bursaries to top-performing rural learners from South Africa’s North West province for excelling in its 2024 STEM and Digital Literacy Programme.
The bursaries, announced during an academic awards ceremony and career expo held at Liquid’s Johannesburg office, will support qualifying students pursuing STEM degrees in 2026, marking a major milestone in the company’s drive to expand digital inclusion and skills development in underserved communities.
The programme, hosted at Sempapa Secondary School and fully funded by Liquid, supported 101 Grade 12 learners from four local high schools.
Learners received supplementary instruction in mathematics, physical sciences and digital literacy, with access to a dedicated Digital Literacy Lab offering Microsoft-certified training and STEM resources.
“We are investing in the future engineers, scientists and innovators of South Africa,” Cassava Technologies South Africa and Botswana chief executive Ziaad Suleman said.
“Empowering learners with STEM and digital literacy ensures they have the tools to unlock their full potential and contribute meaningfully to our digital future.”
Award categories included Excellence in Mathematics and Physical Sciences, Most Improved Learner, STEM Engagement, and Top Digital Literacy Achievers.
Liquid, a business of Cassava Technologies, operates in over 40 markets across Africa, the Middle East and Latin America and is a leading provider of pan-African digital infrastructure and cloud solutions.
