Madagascar’s government has partnered with telecom firm YAS to provide free Wi-Fi at university campuses nationwide in a move aimed at boosting digital access for students and supporting online learning.
The Ministry of Development of Posts, Telecommunications and Digital Economy signed the agreement with YAS, supported by AXIAN Telecom, during a ceremony attended by Minister Andriamampiadana Mahefa, YAS General Director Benoît Janin and AXIAN Telecom General Manager Hassan Jaber.
The project will deploy campus‑wide Wi-Fi networks, enabling students to access digital resources, attend online classes, and benefit from improved connectivity for academic pursuits.
Officials said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to making internet access a key tool for empowering youth and advancing Madagascar’s digital transformation.
