South African Deputy President Paul Mashatile is due in Dakar on Tuesday at the start of a two-day working visit that will see him participate at the 2025 Invest in Senegal Forum.
The two-day event, scheduled for 7-8 October, is expected to spotlight opportunities under Senegal’s National Transformation Agenda and connect regional and global business leaders.
According to a statement from the Presidency, Mashatile will also hold bilateral talks with Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko to deepen collaboration in key sectors including manufacturing, resource beneficiation, and productivity enhancement.
The goal is to foster inclusive growth and job creation in both economies.
Mashatile’s visit underscores South Africa’s commitment to strengthening economic and political cooperation with Senegal, a relationship rooted in shared liberation histories and growing bilateral trade.
The two countries have collaborated on infrastructure development, education, and diplomatic exchanges, with recent efforts focused on expanding industrial partnerships and regional value chains.
Mashatile is accompanied by Deputy Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Zuko Godlimpi.
