Morocco and the Union of the Comoros on Wednesday signed an agreement in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, granting visa exemptions to holders of diplomatic and service passports.
The agreement was signed by Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and his Comorian counterpart, Mbae Mohamed, on the sidelines of the 48th Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Executive Council, which opened earlier on Wednesday.
Under the terms of the agreement, nationals of either country holding diplomatic or service passports valid for at least six months will be permitted to enter, exit, stay in and transit through the territory of the other without a visa for up to 90 days within a 180-day period from the date of first entry.
The agreement also provides that members of diplomatic missions and consular representations accredited to the other party, as well as their dependent family members forming part of their household, may enter, exit, reside in and transit through the host country without a visa for the duration of their accreditation, provided they hold diplomatic or service passports.
Morocco is participating in the 48th Ordinary Session of the AU Executive Council with a delegation led by Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.
The session precedes the 39th AU Summit of Heads of State and Government, scheduled for 14–15 February under the theme: “Ensuring Sustainable Availability of Water and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063.”
