Zimbabwe’s Vice President Constantino Chiwenga is in Azerbaijan for the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum where global leaders are meeting to shape strategies for sustainable urbanisation, affordable housing and resilient cities.
The high‑level gathering in Baku, running from 17 to 22 May, brings together governments, development agencies, planners and private‑sector actors to address the world’s deepening urban housing crisis.
Zimbabwe is using the platform to explore modern housing models and strengthen cooperation on sustainable human settlements.
The UN says nearly three billion people globally live in inadequate housing, with more than 1.1 billion in informal settlements and over 300 million experiencing homelessness – pressures worsened by climate change, conflict and inequality.
WUF13 is examining how cities can expand affordable housing, integrate informal settlements and build resilience to climate shocks.
