The CAF Disciplinary Committee issued its decision regarding Samuel Eto’o Fils, former Cameroonian international and current president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT).
In a statement released on Wednesday, the continental body announced that it had initiated proceedings for
“misconduct” following the match between Morocco and Cameroon.
After reviewing the case, CAF indicated that Samuel Eto’o was found guilty of “violating the principles of fair play,” as defined by the organisation’s Statutes and Disciplinary Code.
Consequently, the Disciplinary Committee has imposed “a ban from attending stadiums for the next four official CAF matches” during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
CAF further specifies that “no further comment will be made on this matter,” emphasising the finality of its official statement.
This decision comes after Cameroon’s elimination by Morocco (0-2) in the quarterfinals at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
The former Cameroonian striker, aged 44 had expressed his displeasure from the stands, contesting certain
refereeing decisions made during the match in question.
The Cameroonian Football Federation, led by Samuel Eto’o since his election as president in December 2021, reacted swiftly to the sanction.
In a statement, FECAFOOT denounced the decision as “devoid of any explicit justification” and described the procedure as “expedited.”
The Cameroonian football body announced its intention to pursue legal avenues of appeal provided for in the regulations, while reaffirming its support for its president.
