Botswana’s Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo made a resounding return to form on Saturday, clinching victory in the men’s 200m at the Eugene Diamond League in the United States with a world-leading time of 19.76 seconds.
The 22-year-old sprinter, who had withdrawn from the Rabat Diamond League in May due to a recurring hamstring injury, showed no signs of discomfort as he surged past a competitive field at Hayward Field.
After a measured start, Tebogo powered through the final stretch to edge out American Courtney Lindsey (19.87s) and Dominican Republic’s Alexander Ogando (19.94s).
The win marks Tebogo’s second Diamond League triumph of the season and reaffirms his status as a top contender ahead of the World Championships in Tokyo this September.
He took the 200m title at the Doha Diamond League meeting in May.
His performance on Saturday signaled a strong recovery after weeks of missed training and rehabilitation.
