The parents of eight young people, identified as evangelists, raised the alarm about their arrest and secret detention, according to the press release published on July 14, 2025.
The statement dated July 4 stated that these young “evangelists” were arrested on June 21, 2025, in the Sabangali neighborhood in the 3rd district of Ndjamena by “unknown individuals”, while they were on an evangelistic mission.
Since then, there has been no trace of them, raising concerns among the parents.
“We have approached the public prosecutor and certain human rights organisations, but they have been in vain. There is no traceability and no glimmer of hope,” the parents wrote.
The parents are turning to the government for help in this worrying disappearance. “We ask it to act. If our children have committed an offense, let them be brought before the courts to answer for it.”
“There’s no point in keeping them in solitary confinement,” they urge the authorities. “And if they are dead, let us return their bodies so we can bury them with dignity and mourn them,” they concluded.
