The Presidency of the Republic of Madagascar has issued a strict directive demanding that officials dismissed from their posts in late October and early November immediately return all public assets in their possession.
The internal memo, published Friday, grants the former officials 48 hours to comply or face potential legal action for embezzlement.
The order comes from the Presidency of the Reorganization of the Republic of Madagascar, led by Colonel Michael Randrianirina following the popular uprising that ousted President Andry Rajoelina. The reshuffles affected several high-ranking officials within the Presidential administration.
The service note, dated November 21 and issued by Secretary General Itibar Ottman, explicitly demands the return of “vehicles, computer equipment, and telecommunications tools.” This applies to all officials whose appointments were revoked by decrees from the Council of Ministers on October 29 and November 5, 2025.
“Presidential officials whose appointments have been revoked are required to return these assets, made available to them during their tenure, within 48 hours of the publication of this note,” the document specifies.
The directive serves as a strong warning: any failure to comply will expose those concerned to “legal prosecution for misappropriation of public funds.” This move aligns with the Refoundation regime’s efforts to assert control and account for state resources during the ongoing political transition.
