The Office of the Prime Minister has released a detailed report summarizing the achievements of General Abdoulaye Maïga during his first year in office.
The report highlights the continuity of presidential priorities and the successful implementation of the new Government Action Plan.
General Abdoulaye Maïga, who was appointed Prime Minister on November 21, 2024, while concurrently serving as Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, began his tenure by strictly adhering to the priorities set by the President of the Transition, General Assimi Goita.
The Prime Minister’s Office specified that the head of government based his actions on the eight priority areas defined by the presidential framework letter. These guidelines were the foundation for the development of the Government Action Plan (PAG) 2025-2026, which was unanimously adopted by the National Transition Council on May 19, 2025.
Upon taking office, Maïga, who succeeded Choguel Maïga, immediately addressed critical national challenges. A key early success involved the energy sector, where an action plan was developed to ensure a stable electricity supply during Ramadan 2025.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister prioritized national cohesion by meeting with various stakeholders, including unions, religious groups, civil society, and political parties, to secure broad national support for the government’s objectives. He also launched capacity-building workshops focused on enhancing government communication.
Throughout his first year, Prime Minister Maïga chaired several sectoral monitoring and crisis management bodies. He also represented the Head of State at major national and international events, including the National Day of Traditional Authorities and the International Defense and Security Exhibition (BAMEX 2025).
On the diplomatic front, he engaged with international officials and participated in key global forums, notably the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The report also highlighted the Prime Minister’s extensive travels within the country to inaugurate infrastructure and launch development projects in Ségou, Konobougou, Niono, and Timbuktu.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister’s Office stated that General Abdoulaye Maïga’s first year as head of government was defined by focused efforts on strengthening sovereignty and national security, alongside the development of an active regional and international diplomacy.
