Three months before the West African Festival of Arts and Culture, a joint mission inspected key cultural venues to prepare for the event, which will focus on culture in the face of political crises in West Africa.
In preparation for the West African Festival of Arts and Culture (ECOFEST), scheduled for November 2025 in Dakar, a joint mission from ECOWAS, UEMOA, and the Senegalese Ministry of Culture visited the key cultural sites selected to host the festival’s activities on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
Led by Dr. Emile Zida for ECOWAS and Dr. Donikpo Kone for UEMOA, the delegation began discussions on the final selection of venues, the official announcement of which is expected soon. The visit concluded with a technical meeting with Senegalese authorities to review the project’s progress and define the allocation of responsibilities.
Under the theme “Political Mutations and Crises in West Africa: What Can Culture Do?” this edition of ECOFEST aims to promote culture as a driving force for social cohesion, peace and transformation in the region.
