Prime Minister Ahmadou Alhaminou Mohamed Lo has called on social partners to prioritize dialogue and uphold a three-year social truce, while assuring them that the state will honour its commitments, according to a statement from his Office.
On Thursday, October 15, 2026, at the President Mamadou Dia Administrative Building, the head of the Senegalese government chaired a meeting of the tripartite steering committee for the “National Pact for Social Stability, Inclusive and Sustainable Growth.”
The meeting was attended by government officials, representatives of employers’ organisations, and trade union leaders.
According to findings presented during the meeting, the pact’s monitoring and evaluation framework indicates a 71% completion rate for the commitments made by both the government and the social partners.
On this occasion, Ahmadou Alhaminou Mohamed Lo reaffirmed the state’s commitment to scrupulously honouring its pledges, while taking into account the restoration of its financial resources.
He also emphasised the necessity of maintaining dialogue among all parties and preserving
the three-year social truce.
In light of tensions with trade unions, the PM proposed a three-month moratorium in lieu of a general strike, advocating for consultation as the preferred path to addressing workers’ demands.
He announced the establishment of social dialogue committees across all government ministries, effective December 2026.
This measure is intended to strengthen consultative mechanisms within the administration and prevent social unrest.
The National Pact for Social Stability serves as a framework for consultation between the tate, trade unions, and employers, designed to foster a peaceful social climate conducive to economic growth and sustainable development.
