On loan from Manchester United, Andre Onana begins a new adventure in Turkey with Trabzonspor for the 2025-2026 season.
Onana arrived at Trabzonspor on Thursday, September 11, on loan from Manchester United until the end of the 2025-2026 season.
Upon his arrival, the Cameroon international was warmly welcomed at the airport by many of the Turkish club’s supporters, a testament to the excitement surrounding the transfer.
Moved by the warm welcome from the fans, Onana expressed his joy at beginning this new phase.
“I’m so happy. I’m starting a new adventure. I’m so excited. Feeling the love of the people around me is a very important feeling for me,” he told the local press. He added: “I want to start working as soon as possible and make them happy on the pitch.”
Trabzonspor formalised the transaction, stating: “An agreement has been reached with Manchester United for the temporary transfer of professional footballer Andre Onana to our club on a free transfer basis for the 2025-2026 football season.”
The club also announced that Onana will wear the number 24 shirt this season.
This arrival marks a new challenge for the goalkeeper, who is seeking playing time after becoming unwanted at Manchester United. He will have three months to regain his best form, a crucial challenge before the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) in Morocco.
Onana’s transfer is part of Trabzonspor’s strategy to strengthen its squad for next season, capitalising on the experience and talent of the goalkeeper, who has already shone in Europe and on the international stage with Cameroon.
