Guinea’s president, General Mamadi Doumbouya has chaired the first regular session of the Council of Ministers in Conakry since the latest mild reshuffle, during which newly appointed cabinet members were officially sworn into office.
The swearing-in ceremony marked the ministers’ official assumption of duties and opened a new phase in the implementation of the institutional and administrative reforms launched by Guinea’s authorities.
Addressing members of the government, the head of state recalled the principles that should guide their work, urging them to demonstrate discipline, responsibility, loyalty and efficiency in carrying out their duties.
General Doumbouya stressed the need to accelerate ongoing reforms, improve the quality of public services and address citizens’ expectations, while emphasising government cohesion, a results-oriented approach and accountability in the management of public affairs.
According to the Guinean presidency, the first Council of Ministers meeting in its new composition also made it possible to define the government’s main priorities for the coming months. These include accelerating development projects, strengthening economic governance, continuing strategic infrastructure programmes and steering the political transition in line with the timetable established by the authorities.
The recent partial government reshuffle is intended, according to officials, to improve the effectiveness of public action and inject new momentum into the implementation of government policies. The swearing-in of the new ministers therefore formalises their commitment to carrying out their duties in accordance with the Transition Charter and the laws of the Republic.
