Ethiopian Airlines has launched thrice-weekly passenger flight service to Nacala, Mozambique, strengthening air connectivity between the two countries.
The airline celebrated the launch of the new service, with the inaugural flight scheduled to depart from Addis Ababa Bole International Airport on the morning of October 27.
Nacala became its third destination in Mozambique after Maputo and Beira cities.
According to the airlines’ statement, the new route offers travelers seamless access to Nacala, a renowned coastal destination and gateway to northern Mozambique’s rich tourism attractions and economic opportunities.
The launch ceremony was attended by invited guests, including Ambassador Zerihun Abebe, Director General of African Affairs at Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mozambique’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Nuno Tomás.
“As an airline deeply rooted in Africa, Ethiopian Airlines remains committed to connecting every corner of the continent with the rest of the world. Today, we are delighted to welcome Nacala, one of Mozambique’s key tourism destinations, to our extensive global network,” the statement quoted Mesfin Tasew, chief executive officer of Ethiopian Airlines Group, as saying.
Beyond facilitating international travel for passengers traveling to and from northern Mozambique, the launch of this new route is expected to foster stronger economic, commercial, and diplomatic ties between Mozambique and the rest of the world.
